OReview Magazine is a technical journal for users of Oracle's database server. Each month's issue covers a different technical aspect of the database software.

CHALLENGE:

• Application Tuning is this issue's cover story. Application performance tuning involves finding and relieving bottlenecks in how an application connects to and runs on a database server.

SOLUTION:

• Concentrate on the bottleneck and connection issues. Focus on a head "bust"-type illustration and twist the neck area to illustrate the bottleneck part. Use a generic-looking head with phone sockets for eyeballs and network cables in the head and neck area to illustrate the connection part.
