OReview Magazine is a technical journal for users of Oracle's database server. Each month's issue covers a different technical aspect of the database software.

CHALLENGE:

• Data Mining is this issue's cover story. Our challenge was to create cover art that translated this technical, niche subject in an engaging, informative, easily comprehendible way.

SOLUTION:

• Data mining is the automated extraction of hidden predictive information from databases (e.g., searching for hidden information in a mass of data). Use the analogy of digging for treasures in the sand at the beach to translate the idea of data mining.
